What Straying is For

In the seventh century, a firm sailor lifted his sails up and crossed over seas. His aim was a fertile soil far away from the land he lived at, exploring the world in order to satisfy his tastes of curiosity.

After being rejected by King of Portuguese and England at that time, this man finally got the faith from Queen of Spain. For days of sailing, exploring ocean for months, he eventually reached a land.

"India!" he shouted to all of his crews. "We have landed in India."

You'll probably be able to guess who I am talking about. Yes, he is Christopher Colombus. Instead of landing in India as what have been expected by Isabel Queen who sponsored his trip mission (to strengthen Spain position in the spices trade which was needed by Europe and was ruptured by crusade), Columbus precisely landed in a continent which is later named America.

This is no doubt is out of his expectation. He himself has never put his two legs in India; however, he got lost in another continent. Then, he came back to Spain, fronted the queen and was scoffed by the other colonizers who took different routes to the west coast of Africa straight forward to south until he reached Tanjung Harapan. They're obviously in the closer position to the authentic India.

Nevertheless, instead of being penalized because of straying, Colombus precisely got appreciation by Ferdinand King and Isabel Queen.

Nay, we know him as the discoverer of America continent these days. It is when he was scoffed he philosophized, "If I had never been wanted to be strayed, you would never have found the new way."
